Teenage Pregnancy

Level 2 Country: England England CPD MINUTES: 90

If you have large groups of learners requiring this training we encourage the use of online training.

Description & Learning objectives

There is clear evidence that teenage parenthood results in poor health, underachievement and low earnings for both the mother and the baby. Rates of teenage pregnancy in the United Kingdom are among the highest in Europe. Looked-after children and young people are vulnerable to poor life outcomes. It is important for foster carers, and carers of looked after children and young people, to have training on the issues surrounding it, to benefit the teenager and society in general.

The following outcomes will be covered in this presentation, and include case studies, articles and current research:

  • To understand the causes for teenage pregnancy
  • To learn about risk factors and complications
  • To find out about the legal issues related to teenage pregnancy
  • To explore the interventions and support available
  • To discuss the impact on teenage parent/s

This course meets the Children’s Home Quality Standards as outlined in The Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and Children’s Homes Quality Standards 2015.
