If you have large groups of learners requiring this training we encourage the use of online training.

Description & Learning objectives

This course is designed to equip professionals, practitioners, and carers with the knowledge and skills to work with parents of children in care effectively. Developing partnerships with parents of looked-after children is challenging, frustrating, and full of obstacles.

But it is nevertheless one of the most important things that can be done in the interests of the looked-after child and is worth pursuing. This course is essential for those seeking to impact the lives of looked-after children and their families positively.

The learning outcomes of this course are as follows:

  • To understand the partnership approach with parents
  • To understand the partnership approach with children removed from abusive situations
  • To understand how to work with parents in cases of voluntary care
  • To understand partnerships with family and kinship care
  • To understand the partnership approach when children don’t have parents

This course is CPD accredited and meets the Children’s Home Quality Standards as outlined in The Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and Children’s Homes Quality Standards 2015.

It is also tailored to where you live in the UK, adhering to each country’s own individual regulators - namely: Ofsted, The Care Inspectorate (Wales), The Care Inspectorate (Scotland), and The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (Northern Ireland).

If you have 5 or more learners who require this training, you might like to consider our face-to-face option instead.
