Description & Learning objectives

In any work environment, there are times when things don’t always go as well as they should. And often, employers then need to conduct an investigation to find out exactly what has happened. During this process, it may be necessary to organise and conduct a disciplinary hearing.

This skill set is an important part of any role with supervisory or management responsibilities. It requires knowledge, skills and experience. This course will give you that knowledge. In addition, your employer will have policies and procedures to further guide you – and these should also be followed. This is to ensure that what you do is within the law.

You may also have a human resources department to support and guide you. If you are conducting and investigation or disciplinary for the first time, you could also ask for coaching and mentoring from a more experienced colleague. Managers who can confidently conduct fair and efficient investigations and disciplinary hearings are an essential part of any organisation.

  • To understand best practice for dealing with employee misconduct
  • To know how how to conduct an appropriate investigation
  • To know how to organise a disciplinary hearing
  • To know how to conduct a disciplinary hearing
  • To understand the different sanctions that employees or foster parents may be given

It is also tailored to where you live in the UK, adhering to each country’s own individual regulators – namely: Ofsted, The Care Inspectorate (Wales), The Care Inspectorate (Scotland), and The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (Northern Ireland).
